Leading composites expertise from a single source – that’s what von Roll stands for. Our experts master the entire value chain – from the development of resin recipes through the manufacturing processes to the machining of the materials. We combine over 80 years of experience in the production of groundbreaking composite materials with state-of-the-art plant technology.
The Augsburg plant within the Von Roll Group specializes in producing and processing composite materials. Through our wide range of resins and fiber reinforcements, we produce a variety of different composite materials. This variety guarantees that we can offer the material that promises the best results for your application.
In addition to semi-finished products, we also produce parts according to drawings for you. Our competence center for machining composites includes the locations in Augsburg (Germany) and Bradford (England). Both locations have a large machine park with the most modern machining centers and technologies.
In our plant in Breitenbach (Switzerland), in addition to prepregs primarily for aerospace and automotive applications, we also produce panels for industrial applications. The large von Roll High Voltage Institute is also located on the factory premises, which offers extensive testing options for composite materials.
Von Roll Composites is part of the Von Roll Group – the world market leader for electrical insulation systems and specialists in composite materials. Making more from materials is an essential part of the von Roll Group. In addition to composites, the von Roll Group offers insulation systems for energy generation, electric mobility and environmentally friendly plastics. So, we are well positioned for the future. Material intelligence – made in Switzerland.
The production site in the south of Augsburg in the Munich metropolitan area is strategically located and very easily accessible. The entire value chain of production for composite materials takes place on 50,000 square meters. For resin formulation extensive tank capacities and fully automated mixing facilities are available. Fabrics and resin formulations are processed into prepregs on 6 modern horizontal and vertical treaters. The prepregs are pressed to panels or wound to tubes on site and cured in industrial ovens. Both types of semi-finished products can be processed into finished components in our own machine park. This is how high-quality components are created – made in Germany – one single source – under one roof.
The Bradford Facility (UK) has been established for over 40 years. In this time, it has grown into a state-of-the-art machining facility with an un-paralleled wealth of skill and experience. Aerospace approved, it is able to manufacture composite machined parts for any industry and machining volume quantities or one off specials is common place. Fully supported by their up to date and modern planning and QA department they can tackle the most complex problems with the ability to reverse engineer and produce engineering drawing if required. We stock over £1 million of composite stock on site, produced by Von Roll in Europe, so lead times are the fastest in our industry.
The production site is located in the south of Basel in Switzerland – close to the border with Germany and France. The site hosts the Von Roll Schweiz AG, the Von Roll Management and Holding entities and it is home of the largest Von Roll laboratories dedicated to research, development and testing of composites. An extensive mixing area and multiple horizontal and vertical impregnation machines are available to produce prepregs that are used for aerospace, automotive, ballistic and high voltage insulation applications. Two presses operating at high pressure are focused on manufacturing sheets for industrial use, such as the Para-lite and Miglasil product range.
Our quality management system is ISO 9001 certified. In addition, our aviation customers trust our certification according to the proven EN 9100 standard. We pay particular attention to the environmental impact and energy management of our plants and, in this context, drive continuous improvement. Within this framework we are ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 certified.
